Go Gingham Plaid Fall Nail Art

If you can draw lines and dots, then you can bundle up your nails for autumn with this charming fall nail art. Gingham plaid has never looked so fresh! Here's how to do it.

If gingham makes you think of summer, then switch up your colors to create this fall nail art design. This gingham plaid works well with both bright and dark colors, but we think it's especially pretty with an autumnal palette. (See Alice's original design in yellow here.) You'll need a base coat, white nail polish, a thin striping brush, dark red nail polish, brown nail polish, a small nail art brush, and a matte top coat. You can mix and match with polka dots, lines, or whatever graphic motif you like. Here's how to create the look.

1. Apply a base coat and two coats of white nail polish (MASH's White) Then, using a thin striping brush and a dark red nail polish (Barry M's Chilli), paint lines down your nail, starting in the center and working to the tip.

2. Using the same brush, paint horizontal lines at equal intervals down your nail. (If drawing lines is difficult, you could draw squares between the stripes instead.)

3. Using a brown shade (Barry M's Cocoa) and a small nail art brush, draw squares where your horizontal and vertical lines meet. This will take time, but it's worth it in the end! Finish off with a matte top coat to complete the fall nail art look. You can add polka dots to your other nails as I have, or do the design on all your nails.
